About the Speaker:

I started my career as a CAD technician, I undertook a level 2 CAD course and a BTEC in civil engineering, whilst gaining experience from several consultancy practices. In 2013 I started my journey with Walker Construction and began with our then design division, WSS as a Project Technician, completing CAD drawings and assisting with tenders. I gradually got more involved with tendering and found my forte in Bid Writing, where I gained great support and knowledge to be given promotion to my current position of Bid Manager, which I thoroughly enjoy.

Encouraging Social Value

Social Value, a buzz word, or a benefit? The aim of this session is to identify how we, as SME contractors can change the forced ethos from government and Clients, in the way they currently implement the process of achieving social value in our projects. I will explain how we can work together to encourage a 'want to' instead of a 'have to' attitude to better the communities we work in a socially, economically and environmentally capacity.
