Managing Director, Baxall Construction
Originating his career with John Laing Plc, Malcolm joined Baxall as a Contracts Manager in 1986 where he was instrumental in the successful management and delivery of multiple education, high quality residential and commercial projects. Within a year, Malcolm was promoted to Contracts Director and Managing Director thereafter, having since developed the role above and beyond a headship function.
Utilising and applying his diverse knowledge of best practice, trends and legislation, Malcolm has positioned Baxall at the forefront of a somewhat diverse and changeable industry. Notable achievements this year in this respect include the retention of Baxall’s Investors in People (improving from Standard to Gold status), ISO 9001:2015 Quality Standard, development of a Continuous Improvement Programme promoting customer service excellence (based upon the principles of Latham and Egan) and more recently the Government Construction Strategy 2025.
As a well-known and respected name across the industry, Malcolm was a key figure with the National Federation of Builders (NFB) with whom he has progressed from local membership to National Chairman. His active involvement has included representation at National and European Government levels and ongoing support for SMEs and localism.
Sustainable construction is a particular specialism of Baxall which Malcolm has encouraged and developed, working collectively with specialist consultants, ecologists and environmental organisations to obtain advice and guidance on best practice, responsibilities and legislation. This has culminated in a trained and experienced workforce who both comprehend and successfully deliver outstanding projects to the stringent BREEAM, PassivHaus and Code for Sustainable Homes standards.
