Caroline Watkins
Caroline has been practising non-contentious construction and commercial law for over fifteen years. She has worked for clients in a wide variety of sectors and industries, in particular the water industry in which she provided in-house advice on procurement of large scale engineering framework agreements and construction-related disputes.
She has drafted, negotiated, advised on and produced construction documentation deriving from a wide range of industry standard forms including JCT, NEC, FIDIC, CIC and BPF, including drafting complex bespoke amendments and creating substantial portfolios of documents such as consultant appointments, collateral warranties, bonds and guarantees, flowing down specified terms throughout to the client’s requirements. Her commercial, friendly and sensible approach is known to unlock the regular negotiation sticking points, keeping the client informed of any tricky legal aspects and their resolution throughout.
Her experience also includes representing lenders in development finance, tackling dispute triggers in early to late stage projects on behalf of employers and contractors, taking clients through the process of termination or dealing with insolvency, and working closely with colleagues on the construction aspects of corporate acquisitions, insurance coverage matters, leasehold matters and rights of light amongst many others.
Caroline provides regular updates and in-person presentations on topical legal matters to add value to her client work. She is a member of the Society for Construction Law.
